Postnatal Massage
Supporting and Nurturing in the Fourth Trimester
Rest – Restore – Recover
Welcoming a new baby into the world is a time of joy, change, and deep emotional adjustment. For many mothers, this transition can bring a mix of excitement, exhaustion, and new physical demands. Postnatal massage provides essential support during this period, helping mothers rest, restore, and recover.
Through evidence-based techniques, therapists learn how to rebalance the body and pelvis, ease muscular tension from feeding or carrying, and soothe discomfort in the neck, shoulders, and wrists. This specialised approach also supports abdominal reconnection, assists with scar tissue recovery, and promotes emotional wellbeing.
Pregnancy Massage Australia’s Postnatal Massage training empowers therapists to nurture women through the fourth trimester—helping them regain balance, confidence, and calm as they embrace motherhood.
In the ‘Postnatal Massage’ course, we focus on:
- Massage in the fourth trimester: to rest, restore and recover
- Massage for the early puerperium the first 6 week period after birth
- Massage to support recovery after caesarean – scar release applications and self care
- How to assess abdominal seperation
- Massage to rebalance the body & Pelvic balancing
- Massage to relieve tension from breast feeding
- Massage techniques to ease postural changes through the shoulder, neck and pectoral muscles
- Reduce oedema in the legs and feet
